If a dispute occurs over the wife’s dower, the Court of Justice must verify that the individual relinquishing the dower acted as a free agent by substantiating the affidavit with evidence that it was not coerced.

It is mandatory for a man to get permission from his first wife before he enters a second marriage in Pakistan, as well as get approval from an arbitration council.
